How You Can Help
No Surf House runs on what people give: money, time, and the stuff that keeps a busy guest house going. Here's what we need right now. We update this page whenever something comes in or a new need comes up.
Things We'd Love
Furniture and storage
- Metal shelving units for storage
- Kitchen shelving, about 2–3 feet wide and 6–8 feet tall
- A spare fridge, for extra food storage
- A standalone freezer
- A big sofa, sleeper sofa, or sectional
- A few nightstands or end tables
- A small outdoor end table and a couple of chairs for the front porch
- Funky or antique pieces anytime: lamps, desks, bed frames, knickknacks
- Folding tables in various sizes
Floors
- Hallway runners
- Large indoor-outdoor rugs
- Rubber floor mats
Tools
- A tool bench
- A big rolling metal tool chest
- Shovels, rakes, and a wheelbarrow
- Other hand and garden tools in good shape
For the yard
We're turning the lots next to the house into a neighborhood green space: clover instead of grass, plus native plants and trees. We've applied for grant funding and start getting the ground ready this November.
- Wood chips or mulch. If you're an arborist or tree crew working nearby, we'll take a load.
- Flattened cardboard boxes, the plain brown kind
For the music
- An acoustic guitar for the house, so guests can play without unpacking their own
Technology
- Mac mini: M4 chip or newer, 16GB memory, 512GB storage or more. It would keep the house's booking and office systems running around the clock.
- Full-frame Canon camera (R8, R6, R6 Mark II, 6D, or 5D Mark III or IV), for shooting shows and our events.
- Canon EF lenses: a 24-70mm f/2.8L (Mark II preferred), a 50mm f/1.8, and someday a 70-200mm f/2.8L.
- MacBook: M4 chip or newer, 16GB memory, 512GB storage or more. It would be the house's main work computer for bookings, grants, guest communication, and everything else that keeps the doors open.
- iPhone 15 or newer: 128GB or more, battery health 85% or better. It would be the house's work line for guest texts and social media, and a second camera at shows and events.
We set these minimums so donated gear stays useful for at least five years. If you have something close, ask us anyway.
Your Time
- Yard work days on the lots next to the house, starting with laying tarps this November
- Help around the house: small repairs, yard work, setup and cleanup
- Snow shoveling this winter
- No Surf Fest 2027: setup, info table, kids' area, teardown
Money
Cash keeps beds free for touring musicians and pays for the projects above.
DonateNo Surf House is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 93-1936060), so donations of money and goods are tax-deductible.
